The fastest million ever

Yesterday Skype reached another million milestone: 22 million concurrent users online. There was never such a short time span between two million milestones! Only 7 days!
Therefore this is two records at once!

At the same time several bloggers and web papers reported the recent numbers of TeleGeography: “Skype traffic increases at astonishing pace”;

Astonishing, and still, not really surprising: Skype to Skype calls are free and the quality of the calls is superb, video included!

It's a bit old but it might give you an idea

Yes Jörg, this is old. I knew this, and have it saved on my computer since a long time. The data was provided by Skype at that time. Thanks anyway!

Looks like the next million will be the longest million ever.

Hey Doot,

Well, in fact we already reached 23 million on March 8, but i forgot to blog on it (I saw it very late).
And i guess we could reach 24 million before the "summer recesion".

And apart from the first million (418 days in 2003-2004) the second longest was 261 days in 2007.

I gues this will not happen again, unless the growth really stops!

growth is slowing for good

Hi,

do you know about some usage studys of skype users? How long people (from which background, age,...) are online for how long per day etc...?

Thanks in advantage for your help and thank you for the data you already provide!

Johannes,
No, I don't have that information. Sure I would publish it, if I had.

But Skype almost doesn't provide anything anymore.

Hello Doot,

I don't agree, it went over the 21 million on Monday through Thursday, and over 20 million on Friday.

Thanks for your comment anyway.
